ஆயிரத்தில் ஒருவன்

'ஆயிரத்தில் ஒருவன்' வெளிவந்து 3 மாதங்கள் ஆகின்றது.அனால் நான் இப்போதுதான் பார்த்தேன். செல்வராகவனின் கதாநாயகர்கள் எப்போதும் விளிம்பு நிலை மனிதர்களே. அவர்கள் பெரும்பாலும் வெற்றி பெறுவதில்லை. ஒரு போரட்டத்திற்கு பிறகு ஒன்று தோற்று ஓடுவார்கள் இல்லை அவர்களின் வெற்றி ஒரு pyrrhic வெற்றியாக இருக்கும். 'ஆயிரத்தில் ஒருவன்' விதிவிலக்கல்ல. நாயகன் இறுதியில் உயிர் பிழைக்க தப்பி ஓடுகிறான். சோழ பாண்டியர்களின் விரோதம் இறுதி வரை இருந்தாலும், இதை ஒரு fantasy movie ஆகவே எடுத்து கொள்ள வேண்டியுள்ளது. ரீமா சென்னின் இறுதி வெற்றி, ஒரு பிண குவியலின் மேல் வருகிறது. வரலாறு பற்றிய சிந்தனயை மறுத்துவிட்டால் நல்லதொரு படமாக வரவேண்டியது. பாடல்கள், சண்டை என சில பல குழப்பங்களுடன் முடிந்து விடுகிறது.
What should've been a magnum opus of Selva's career peter out with Reema sen speaking chaste Tamil (this one factor made watching the second half of the movie miserable for me) and Andrea looking lost in the jungle. Karthi, though understated in the later part of the movie (no doubt, because of Parthiban's presence) carries it with the rustic charm of the 'kuppam' boy. Its kind of a sad ending with a sliver of hope but I would've preferred that the entire thing crashed down in the reality of the vengeance taken. Shiva makes his appearance throughout the movie to remind us of the destruction that is to follow. It was technically good movie though the CGI stands like a mole on the screen. Overall, a welcome effort in the midst of so many nonsensical movies.
